What Are The Chances Of Cervical Cancer While Suffering From Chlamydia?

After a traumatic event, I have been diagnosed with high risk hpv, pelvic inflammatory disease and bacterial vaginosis. I have been cleared after being diagnosed with chlamyidia, trichinosis and ghonrrea. What are my chances of cervical cancer. If I have bleeding after inter course with my husband and painful sharp pain cramps, and fatigue, is there more going on then my diagnosis. Why does my doctor want an ultrasound?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you have bleeding after intercourse this may be due to sexually transmitted infections and also due to cervical changes that proceed cervical cancer.
It is important that you do regular pap smears and if any changes are noticed you should do further tests and treatments.
As for the chances to have cervical cancer, sexually transmitted diseases, especially HPV do increase this risk considerably. This is why it is important to be followed up regularly with pap smears.
Ultrasound examination is a routine examination if you are having bleeding so it is normal your doctor is requesting it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
