What Are The After Effects Of Cervical Hardware Removal From Neck?
I had Cervical hardware removed from my neck April 30, 2015. They installed a plate and two screws in my neck at c-5-6 or so. Since then the back of my head feels pressure and I cannot lean against the upper part of my neck or base of skull without feeling pain. The last few months I have been getting these unbalanced feelings that seem to stem from my neck. Lately my nausea has been getting worse and worse. I believe it stems from the neck surgery I am going to see a new pain clinic Monday 8-22-2016 so see if I am a good candidate for injections. I think the screws and plate need to come back out of my neck.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Pressure in neck after a neck surgery of that sort may be common. The neck happens to be a part with well coordinated muscles, vertebrae and nerves.A compression or irritation of any of the nerves may cause symptoms like tingling, pain and may make you nauseous.I will suggest you see the Doctor who put the screws to evaluate and decide if removing the screws will be an option here.In the meantime, you may take a pain drug like ibuprofen, a myorelaxant like miorel and hire a physiotherapist for massage. Hope this will help you Best wishes
