What Are Recurring Outbreaks Of Blisters Around The Buttocks Suggestive Of?

My lesion on lower back near top of butt. has ben treated on and off since March, 2016. I v had three outbreaks. I ve had three outbreaks. Prescribed Valacyclovir HCl 1 Gm three times a day. Also Acylovir 5 % . I took a photo this a.m. and have redness at the site and possible a small round blister? Should I be referred to an Immunologist? Had chemo in 2005. Survived Ovarian Ca. 2005. It is very upsetting to have this at 68 y.o. came back with a reminder. I never has such a problem.. In the past I was gien name grand products. Now due to Insurance limitationans I receive generic products. The clincher was topical cream for virus on lips , Denavir 1% ever 2 hrs. I could ask Doctor/Insurance company for a special plea due to the resistant nature this time.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of survivor cancer of ovary, undergone Chemotherapy, recurrent blisters on the top of buttocks, received Acyclovir oral and topical too.
The best diagnosis can be had by consulting your Dermatologist,
The possibility of recurrent boils due to pressure points or scabies too should be borne in mind.
Apply liquid povidone iodine locally to avoid secondary infection.
If the pus or liquid is present then send it for lab.
Post the photos and detailed history as these help for on-the-spot diagnosis.
The blisters due to viral look different.
Get regular CBC done for White Cell counts.
Also get tests of any autoimmune or such diseases that give repeated viral infections.
Strengthen immunity.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
