What Are Lumps In The Breast Of A Teenager Suggestive Of?

my granddaughter is 14 and just had a physical. her doctor told us she had a couple of lumps in her breast but we should just keep checking them monthly as she was too young too have cancer so not to be alarm my daughter is a nurse so she is alarmed and was amazed a doctor said this maybe are overly concerned because our granddaughters mother was just diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer last week

I understand your concern
Breast cancer run in the family so you have to concern about this.
According to age most common cause of the multiple lump in the breast fibrocystic disease of the breast/fibroadenoma.
I would suggest to consult the experienced surgeon and undergo USG scan, USG guided FNAC to confirm the cause.
Excision biopsy is the best to diagnose the lump.
Frequent follow up is required to check the progress of the lump.
Birth control pill an selective estrogen receptor modulator will help to resolves the lump.
Other treatment will depend on the specific cause.

Hi. Sorry to hear about the illness of the kid.
Breast lumps are of two types benign and malignant. At this age most of the lumps are benign (non-cancerous) most commonly being Fibroadenoma which is a mass in young girls, highly mobile and has no chance of progressing to a cancer so nothing to be panic about. Consult a surgeon for excision if it is too bothering. Wishing you and your family best of health. Regards.
