Took Sterile Swab For An Itching Vagina. Had Chlamydia. Worry?
I am a vet tech so i am around and do lab work all the time i have had an itching sensation kind of uncomfortable feeling in my vagina the last few days. So I took a sterile swab and swabbed the inside of my vagina stained it and looked at it i saw alot of what looked to me like epi cells and a lot of rods. What does that mean? When I was younger I was dating a guy for about 3 years when he cheated on my and I found out i had chlamydia I am really scared that this is what it is, but i have been with the same guy for almost a year now.
Hi there Allison. What you may have seen under the microscope may have been 'normal' vaginal commensal bacteria..so relax. The itch may be more psychological or stress aggravated. Having said this, please go across to your gynecologist & get a 'high vaginal swab' tested for the chlamydia antigen & PUT YOUR 'GHOSTS' To rest! I would not advocate any treatment at all. Check with your partner if he has any symptoms , else all is well..cheers! You are most welcome to revert with the results of the chlamydial swab test but am guessn it is gonna be negative..good luck!
