Swollen And Sore Calf Muscle And Ankle, Painful. Taken Co-codamol. What To Do?

I was standing one minute in the kitchen and then running towards my children in the living room and heard a loud pop. I went to casualty the next morning and the nurse examined my my right leg. The back of it is very tight, swollen and sore and she said it was a torn calf muscle. that is about 2-3 weeks ago. I was walking around in crutches and flew over to see my parents in northern Ireland because both of them are not well. A few days ago I was able to put my whole foot to the ground and walk on it but a sudden movement again I think torn it again and I am back to square one. It is swollen around my right foot and ankle and I can only put my right toes on the ground and not my right heel as I was when I first hurt it. I was told to do exercises but I haven't tried to do them as I cannot put my whole foot to the ground. what should I do? as it was so swollen I went to a casualty in northern Ireland and they took a blood test to rule out a clot. it came back normal. my ankle and foot is still badly swollen and the pain is still there. what should I do? they gave me a tight stocking to support my leg and gave me co-codamol. what should I do now. I am lying down with my right leg elevated on cushions but cannot always do this as I have three children when I go back home to England.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The torn muscle causes a swelling and pain. This needs adequate rest, using a crepe bandage, regular cold compress and a mild pain killer for at least two-three weeks to feel symptomatically better.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
