Swelling And Pain In Testicle, Irregular Shape. Had Hydroclectomy Year Back. Should I Undergo Another Operation?
Hi yes, I had a hydrocelectomy a year ago. Although swelling and pain subsided in about 4 weeks my testicle is now as large as before, much harder to the touch and irregular shape. I have had two ultrasound since and they cannot see any problems. Is there a chance that my testicle will return to a more normal size or should I consider a second operation.
I am so sorry to hear about the problems with your testicle. The testes often get very very swollen after surgery and may never return to their original size if the inflammation was not aggressively controlled following the surgery. Consequently, it will remain big because it is actually tissue.
You may want to consider another surgery just for esthetic reasons if you don't feel comfortable with the current state and size of your testicle. However, if the inflammation is not aggressively controlled you will still end up with the same state. Hope you find this helpful. I wish you good health. Dr. Ditah, MD
