Suggest Ways To Manage Wrist Pain After A Fracture

MY SON HAD A BUCKLE FRACTURE OF HIS WRIST 4 YEARS AGO. HE RE-INJURED THE SAME WRIST THIS WEEKEND PUTTING HIS WRIST OUT TO BREAK HIS FALL WHILE PLAYING FOOTBALL. THE MD AT THE URGENT CARE SAID SHE DIDN'T THINK IT WAS BROKEN BUT SHE SEES A RIPPLE ON THE XRAY THAT LOOKS OLD. HE'S IN A LOT OF PAIN MUCH LIKE THE LAST TIME. WOULD THAT SAME RIPPLE STILL BE ON AN XRAY FROM 4 YRS AGO?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Repeat x-ray and consult an orthopedic surgeon for the review of treatment as it appears to be incomplete union and requires further immobilization.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
