I am 73 years old going to 74 this November. in these years I was healthy, not taking any medication. This past January I was diagonosed with high blood pressure 178 over. My doctor prescribed me Benezepril .10mg to 20mg. My blood pressure is still high. Then she changed to Nifedipine .60, then changed to Lozartan 100mg. Doc this 3 medication is not working. Hi,

Blood pressure control is sometimes difficult. However it is never an emergency. What we do generally is that we start with one drug and gradually increase the dose till your BP is in control. If not we add another drug.

Many people need more then one drug even three drugs are needed many times. So, if your BP is not controlled with one drug we can always add on drugs. It's not emergency we always need to wait for 1 month for one drug before adding another one. So, we can gradually increase your drugs to control your BP.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
