Suggest Ways To Manage Allergic Reaction To Doxycycline

I am 66, had contracted Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I developed a severe allergic reaction to Doxycyline so my doctor changed me to Azithromycin 500 mg. I am still itching terrible and wondered if I could drink fresh ginger tea to help alleviate itching. I also take 25 mg atenolol, 100 mg spironolactone, .5 mg estradiol, 20 mg avorstatin, Norco 10-325 3 times daily (have had 6 back surgeries) and he has given me 25 mg of hydroxyzine to take 3x daily. I have left off my muscle relaxant for my back and other vitamin (such as magnesium, calcium, etc) until this RMSF and hives clear up. I do have a genetic factor for hypervmetabolizing certain drugs - for example I cannot take blood thinners unless they were on a very low and monitored dose (I would bleed out ). I am going to try oatmeal baths and compresses to help the itching subside, and saw ginger tea recommended, but was concerned re interactions with other meds. Can you advise. I am scheduled to see my doctor again Monday to be re-evaluated.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, hypersensitivity reaction can be best treated with antihistamine what ever may be the cause and some time it may need steroid, here in your case you can try " Tab Levocetirizine 10 mg three times in day, and stat away from the causative factor which cause the hypersensitivity, although this is nothing to worry, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
I find this answer helpful
