Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Happy New Year Dr. Rynne, I have a friend who I told I would try and help with his father. My father was a radiologists so I am a tad medically savvy. So here goes. My friends father had bladder cancer 10 years ago. Took chemo... it has mets to his lymph nodes. At this Thanksgiving he did not have a problem with incontinence of any kind. But, now he has no use of his legs (there is a benign tumor on his spine) and he is totally incontinent and has to wear adult diapers. His wife is 78 and cannot lift him. They have run out of home health coming 3 days a week with their medicare. Is there some program or portal-potty that they may use where he would have some dignity ...what are their options? They cannot find out what is wrong. I told their son I would try and find something out. I would ask my father but he died eight years ago of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma. Best wishes, Tracey K. Carr
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, this is geriatric condition with malignancy disease and in such case good nursing care is the best option and for that he may be hospitalized or either one can appoint the one competent nurse at home only, hope this information helps, take care, have a nice day.
