Suggest Vitamin Supplements During Pregnancy

Hi doc, I m 8weeks pregnant. When do I start taking vitamins and which ones will u recommend. Again I have nausea throughout the day and on my last pregnancy it lasted throughout the 9months and even after delivery. I took pregnant care(a prenatal drug) before, during and after n I don t know if that was the reason. So I m not comfortable taking it this time round. Please any advice. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

You should take 400 micrograms of folic acid each day, from before pregnancy until the end of the first trimester (first 12 weeks), and 10 micrograms of vitamin D daily throughout pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
No other supplements are recommended for routine use.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
