Suggest Treatments For Skipped Beats

I am 59 yrs old. Of late I started getting breathless and would get tired easily. Whilst walking could make out that something was wrong with my breathing. Was advised to go for a cardiogram and 2D Echo. 2D Echo was normal but the cardiogram was not. Family physician had told me that there is a break in the pulse rate and the cardiogram showed the same. Does this mean that I am heading for some blockade in the arteries. Is it something serious or with medicines I will get alright.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would like to tell you that break in the pulse rate means you are having problems in cardiac rhythm which requires further evaluation for proper management. Kindly get a HOLTER ( ambulatory ECG monitor) for minimum 48 hours and consult a cardiologist personally for further treatment. You require a Pacemaker implantation if they find any significant rhythm block.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
