Suggest Treatment To Promote Weight Gain In A Child
Hi my daughter is 6months and she dont eat at all she drink milk very little like after 5hrs she feels little hunger tjen she wants but only 3oz which is 90ml I dont know what to do as she look much smaller than her other counterparts so please advise me some appetite syrup or something that she could start gaining weight. Thanks
Appetite syrups are not going to do any good and do not fall for them. At 6 months of age, it is already time for weaning. At this age milk is simply not adequate to meet the nutritive requirements of the body for which semi solids need to be introduced. It is basically a transition to the adult diet. You can give any sort of adult food low on spices in a mashed up form. Give a boiled rice based diet. Add pulses and vegetables to it. You can also add chicken or eggs in mashed form. You can give fruits in grated form. No need to boil fruits if they can be otherwise converted to semi solid form. Instead of formula feeds, these are more nutritive and should be given. I hope that these will help the baby gain weight. I am not commenting on the amount as it can vary with every child and you would soon understand how much is needed. Do not compare the baby to her counterparts. Rather her own weight needs to be plotted on a growth chart sequentially to see if her growth is adequate.
