I am 57 years old, female. I don t smoke, drink occasionally, and exercise regularly. I am 5 1 and weigh 105 pounds. I used to have very normal blood pressure - in the past few months it has become very high average about 145/75 daily. I am a vegetarian also. What should I do to help decrease my blood pressure? Hi welcome to HCM Hypertension need multi modal approach.Firstly you need to start Anti hypertensive drugs like beta blockers by consulting your doctor.secondly dietary management low salt intake,high fibre diet,3-4litres of water per ragh,fruits like apple,pomogranate,high protein low fat diet.Thirdly Regular exercise,avoid stress and anxiety.Get your blood pressure checked for every 2weeks.Get investigations like ECG,lipid profile,blood sugars,complete blood picture as a part of screening for any underlying heart disease.Consult your cardiologist for expert guidance and discuss your queries.Thankyou
