Suggest Treatment To Increase Height In Kids

Hi Doctor, I have a 6.5 year old daughter who is in the 4% of hight chart. She is constantly complaining about her hight, saying that she doesn't want to be short. Would your recommend HGH treatment for her? If yes, could you provide me with some information on how long she will need the treatment (I've heard these children should get a shot every night), how painful it is, and what the approximate cost of this treatment is.

Many thanks.

We first need to find out how she has been growing... was she very small at birth? Has her height/length been below average all along or is it faltering lately, and from what age? Is she showing regular increase in height? We also need to look for the cause of her short stature through detailed clinical examination and tests including xrays, blood tests and genetic study. Depending on all these a decision can be taken whether HGH will be useful or not. Please consult a Paediatric Endocrinologist for the detailed follow-up.
