Suggest Treatment For Whole Body Itching While On Prednisone And Benadryl

I am supposed to get epideral injections in my neck this upcoming Thursday. I was told not to take ibuprofen, celebrex or nsaids. I got a rash and a different doctor put me on prednisone and benadryl. Will that interfere with my ability to get my epideral injections?

Hello,

As Ibuprofen or NSAIDs increases risk of bleeding tendencies, so you should not take these medications as you are posted for epidural injections.

For itching with rash, you can continue with prednisone and Benadryl as advised. This will not interfere with your procedure. Along with that, I will suggest you to apply Lactocalamine lotion locally.

If you have still itching, I will suggest you to take tablet Allegra or tablet Avil after dermatologist opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
