Suggest Treatment For Whitish Scabs On The Back Of Head

For the past month now ive had whitish scabs of the back of my head, it started small but its roughly 2 inches round now, it itches, but i try not to scratch it, i try to wear my hair loose, even when i put my hair in a bun its not pulled tight. When i brush my hair, small pieces of the scab come out, and when i wake up in the morning, my hair by the scab has pieces of it near the scalp. I dont know if i need to see a doctor or if it will go away, or what i should do about it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
It seems by going through your description, you might be having seborric dermatitis. It is nothing but an infection of the scalp.
For this you can use a shampoo containing coal tar, keticonazole, salicylic acid, selenium and zinc as its ingredients regularly.
To start with, you can use every alternate days and after 2 weeks, you can use it twice a week.
Later on, depending on your improvement, you may use it once a week.
Hope it helps you to overcome your symptoms.
Wish you all the best.
I find this answer helpful
