Hi welcome to HCM Most cases of diarrhea and vomiting (gastroenteritis) last for 3-5 days . Things to be taken care are 1. Proper hydration of child by giving ORS , frequent feeding , should pass urine 3-4 times in day. 2. Watch for activity -baby may be slight dull , but should other wise be active, playful, accepting oral feeds.3. One or two vomiting may occur but should not be persistent ( vomits frequently and everything )4.Dehydration due to loose motions can be controlled with ORS but if loose motions / vomiting are very frequent , there may be need for hospitalization for intravenous hydration . 5. If baby is active , few loose stools are there , one or two vomiting are there , baby passing urine frequently, there is no very high fever, no dullness , it usually will resolve in 3-5 days , continue medicines as advised by your doctor , if any danger sign/ symptom do consult your doctor earlier.
