Suggest Treatment For Vitamin D Deficiency In An Elderly Person

Hi. I was recently diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency. I am 70 y/o white female who eats a Mediterranean diet of fish, non-fat dairy, and lots of fruits & vegetables. I get an average amount of sunshine (30-40 Min) per day. Don t smoke/drink. I do use a body lotion daily and am wondering if this could be the reason why I am not getting the sun rays through my skin. Can t take Vitamin D supplements as it causes me to have muscle aches and spasms and hot flashes. My primary care doctor is frustrated with me and she feels I am non-compliant. Any suggestions?
