Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 2 yr old has been battling with her chest for a month now. Had her at our gp who prescribed her aspelone for 5 days on May 15, diagnosed as a viral infection and croup. Then seemed betterfor a a few days but then started with a runny nose and green snot and was chesty. Then two weeks ago went to doc again and he put her on zoxil... didn t clear up as she continued to be chesty... went back to gp last Monday and he put her on another bout of aspelone. She is still coughing... sounds croupy again and one more dose of aspelone left. I don t know what to do now. She contracted pneumocystis at 2mnths and both lungs collapsed and she was on a ventilator for 5 days at that time. I battle with her chest ever since and stopped working to take her out of daycare. The gp reckons she is atopic. Pls advise I m so scared we missing something and want her to be healthy. Thanks Arlene
It's time to see lung pediatrician, to evaluate her lungs with an X-ray or any other exam, although she is so small. She might require more specific treatment but after consulting with a lung specialist. Therefore, it is better to make an appointment as soon as possible. Meanwhile, I recommend aerosol therapy with Beclomethasone to clear out her lungs, and breathe better.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
