Suggest Treatment For Tortuous Colon

What is Tortucous colon? I had a colonoscopy today and they could not get to the ascending colon (and down to the cecum). I have to have a Virtual colonoscopy to see that portion of the colon. Can the restriction be related to abdominal adhesions? I also have RA so am always concerned about how that might cause issues with organs of my body. Thank you

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The tortuous colon could be due to adhesions. However, the exact picture can be determined by virtual colonoscopy only. I suggest you to get the virtual colonoscopy to know the exact condition of the colon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
