I have a gland in my throat, just under the jaw that seems to be infected. I am getting shooting pains in my ear and up the side of my head. How can I tell if this is bacterial infection or viral infection. I have ciprofloxacin and it is only for bacterial infections.

Drink a more water per day. Avoid spicy foods and oily foods. Warm water gargling helpful.
