Suggest Treatment For The Pain In Rib Cage

I had a heart attack 10 years ago. I am 62 years old I quit smoking after my heart attack. I have diebets type 2 and high blood pursure i take meds for that my blood pursure and diebets are under control with the meds i take. two days ago I Had sorness and mild pain in my right rib next to my sternum. I went to er to check it out they did a ekg and blood work and chest x ray. everthing came out normal. the dr in er said i have costochondritis. he said to see my primary dr in two days and to see a heart dr in one week. He said that because i have have a heart attack in the past. he said that these systums can be a sign of a heart attack. he said to let these drs.know i have been in er for this reason. im am useing ib profun and ice for home treament. I am going to see my primary dr. on wednesday. I was sick two weeks ago with a cold and cough it lasted about ten days or so. i also have been doing exersize walking 30 minitue a day and puting my arms above my head 90 times a day. The dr. in er told me not to exersize because that can make my ribs worse. Can you tell me what treatment would benefit me? and from what i told you is there something i did to cause this problem? also can you tell me can this sorness and pain move from one rib to another?

After going through your query I concluded that you most probably suffering from osteochondritis.As ER doctor rightly said that you shouldn't exercises it as it will increase pain. Treatment of it is rest and analgesic such as ibuprofen.Vitamin B and C is helpful in recovery. There is no harm in consulting your GP and cardiologist. You can discuss it with your doctor.
