Suggest Treatment For The Lump And Bruising On The Skin

I m an 18 year old girl and was playing a hockey match this morning and after getting a full force hit on the upper shin just blow my knee on my right leg I looked down to see a lump the size of about 3 tennis balls coming out of my skin. I iced it for 15 minutes but continued to play on it for an hour and fell on it and ever since it s significantly bruised and swollen even after a day of elevation and ice. I can bend it and walk on it but it is sore to do so. When I touch it, it is very numb, it hasn t improved really. Any advice would be great

Hello,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you injured your right leg .There is a lump of the size of about 3 tennis balls coming out of your skin. It may be a large hematoma . Icing is OK. Elevation is OK. If it is pain during weight bearing (walking) then it needs to be x-ray done to exclude fracture.Treatment of it is rest and mobilization exercises of leg ,ankle and calf muscles.Keep leg elevated on pillow at night and resting time. As far as possible avoid keeping limb dependent(keep it elevated).Use elastic crepe bandage during walking and working. Analgesics (diclofenac three times a day after meals) can be used for pain. Vitamin B-complex and Vitamin C supplementation can used to promote healing.You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
