Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am 70 years old female I fell on my stairs several days ago and bounced my tailbone really hard on at least two steps.. Everyone tells me there is nothing a dr. can do but i would like to know what i can do to not make it worse and to heal as quickly as possiblel
The pain in your tailbone area, is caused by the local trauma and neuromuscular damage. It will need some weeks for the pain to heal completely. I suggest you to:
- Take Naproxen daily, for three-four weeks, it will relieve pain until tailbone heals
- Use heating pad or ice pack
- Try not to put too much pressure on your tailbone region
- You can also try physical therapy
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards,
Dr. Suela Gjata,
General & Family Physician
