Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell at a basketball match and felt a pop in my ankle, and it hurt to bear weight on it but I managed to keep playing. Now I get home and there s minor swelling, no bruising but it hurts a lot, I m limping and I can t rotate it without pain. What should I do?
Dear patient Since there is injury to ankle with difficulty in walking possibility of minor fracture cannot be ruled out. I would advise Xray of ankle with foot anteroposterior and oblique views to rule out bony abnormalities. If it's normal then you have sprained ankle. A wear ankle cap and give rest to your ankle for 3 weeks. Avoid weight bearing for same period. Take tab diclofenac plus serratiopeptodase combination twice a day for pain and swelling relief. If there is fracture need to consult expert orthopaedic surgeon. All the best.
