Suggest Treatment For Swollen Knee

I m 64 yr old female. I injuries my knee a month ago, did several sessions of physio and knee seemed to be improving. I must have reinjured knee as it is swollen and sore. Visited physio yesterday and spoke with my GP today who feels it is the cartilage as he feels clicking. He believes recent study that it s best to heal on my own rather than do MRI and possible knee surgery. He explained that it would be 3-4 months of physio and rehab. It seems study shows that after a year surgery patients are no further ahead and after ten years more possible for arthritis with surgery. Wondering what you think. Thank you
