Had flu but now have swollen glands. My doctor checked and found no ear infection etc so said probably virus but mostly at night I get earache and feel like pea size lump in my throat under years, dry mouth and uncomfortable feeling like throat is closing up and can't swallow?? Going on for 2 weeks
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swollen glands and flu which seems to be due to strep throat which is a bacterial infection. I would suggest you to start with antibiotics as they are first line of treatment option in this case. Also apply warm compresses neck twice a day . Avoid spicy and rough food. Take diet rich in soft food. Sip on lukewarm water and take throat lozenges. Take anti inflammatory drugs such as Levocetirizine. As there is difficulty in swallowing you should visit ENT specialist without any delay and get it examined. Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test along with examination with laryngoscope. Maintain oral hygiene. Take proper course of antibiotics. Eat soft food or take liquid diet until it gets better.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
