Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About 2 months ago I was painting the woodwork in one of the rooms of my home, naturally I was on my knees getting up and down. After that my knee swelled up and it became painful to move it. Going up and down steps was the worst. Went to the doctor and she saw water on the knee and gave me medication to reduce the swelling. She also sent me for a ct scan which showed tendinitis. The swelling did go down but now I notice the bone on my knee is protruding and hurts if I kneel. What could be the problem. Should I go back on the anti-inflammatory?
Welcome at HCM i have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns... Based upon the history you have provided it seems that you have got soft tissue injury of the knee joint . this injury doesn't become evident on ct . In my opinion you should get an MRI of the knee joint to rule out meniscus injury as well as cruciate ligament.. Meanwhile take rest and use knee brace. Try to avoid excessive movements particularly the bending. Do regular icing and use antiinflammatory drugs to relieve pain and consult an orthopedic surgeon for proper management Get well soon Regards Dr saad sultan
