Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Elbow

Hi I am a competitive basketball player and six months ago I landed on a blended elbow. Though I had severe swelling and lots of pain, I could still move my elbow so I didn t get it checked out. however, I am pretty sure I did something to my olecranon because I do not have an elbow tip I can still feel that part of my elbow bone is missing. Should I get it checked out or do I leave it?

I have studied your case and I think that you should get x ray of the elbow to confirm the diagnosis. It can be a minor hair line crack which you might missed that time.
If there is no fracture seen on x ray than other possibility is that it can be collection of fluid in the elbow joint, This fluid collection is called olecranon bursitis or student's elbow. It can be treated with aspiration of the fluid from elbow joint.
You should also apply hot water fomentation and do not massage.
I hope this answer will be useful. Let me know if there is any thing else you want to know.
thanks
