Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

The condition to be ruled out in this setting is an inguinal hernia- this usually becomes more prominent while baby cry/strains at stool and diminishes while sleeping / lying quietly. As your doctor suggested, ultrasound will clinch the diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
