Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Leg After An Insect Bite

More than 50 years ago I had a terrible insect bite on my right knee. I suspect it as a spider - never could locate the insect, but I had a large hole in my leg and it was terribly painful. My leg was swollen from the knee down and my leg never became as normal as the other leg. The doctor put me on medication and it helped but I don t remember what it was. Now I am 74 years old and the swelling is bad enough where I have to wear a size larger shoe on that foot. My current physician said to try a diuretic which only gave me kidney stones. I tried compression hose which really didn t help - I believe my lymph system in that leg was damaged and because of my age and other medical issues I am a little frustrated because the doctor doesn t seem to know what to do. Also, I have had circulation tests and the results were that my circulation is fine. I cannot afford to pay for a charge for this service, so if it costs me, please just ignore my question. I am not in pain, but my leg around the ankle is a bit stiff.
