General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The swelling and discomfort are related to the body's inflammatory response to the trauma.

It will decrease though this can take a few days.

It would be best to consider the use of a cold compress to the area along with the use of anti inflammatory pain medication such as naproxen, ibuprofen, cataflam.
These meds would reduce both the swelling and the pain.

The cold compress should be applied for 20 to 30 mins, 2 to 3 times a day.

I hope this helps
