Suggest Treatment For Swelling Between The Knuckles On My Index And Middle Fingers
After I have been gardening or doing woodwork or working on my computer, I get a swelling between the knuckles on my index and middle fingers on my right hand. I have been using anti inflammatory gel but it has little effect. The Dr sent me for an X ray but it came back normal. Sometimes at night the pain is really bad.
I think the problem is due to overusing or repeated movement you were recently doing. It may have caused inflammation of tendons or tendinitis. You may need to use anti-inflamatory drugs such advil or naproxen for pain and swelling. Also avoid the movements that cause the pain. Keep it at rest as much as possible. Keep hand elevated and use ice.
Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
