Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bump On Head After An Injury

Daughter was playing soccer (goalie) - she was hit in the head behind left ear. Caused immediate swelling. Spot about the size of half dollar. No headache or dizziness. Just hurts on knot (to touch and when not touching). Happened yesterday. Do I need to take her to see doctor or will it just go away.

Hello,

Since more than 24 hrs have lapsed without any signs of any concussion, it seems to be just a soft tissue injury.

It should go on its own. She just needs analgesics for pain and swelling. There is no need to go to a doctor.

You might still want to see a doctor just to be on the safer side.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Syed Tehmid, General & Family Physician
