General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Harpic contains acid and many other components causing fibrotic stricture due to its ability to deep penetration. Two dilatations have failed to give results as per your history. First of all I would advise for proper evaluation with a contrast enhanced CT scan of chest and upper abdomen with enteroclysis can give the best idea about the exact site, the depth of involvement, any lateral injury or scar, the cause of failed dilatation and so on.

Consult a gastroenterologist medical as well as surgical to have a combined discussion to decide about the best possible therapy to have results. You can try dilatation of the esophageal stricture again at the specialized center working with esophageal conditions and newer scopes, instruments and expertise may allow the best results. Duodenal stricture if tight needs some kind of surgery like stricture-plasty or bypass the stricture by joining jejunum to the stomach to have free passage of food.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
