Suggest Treatment For Staph Infection

A family member was diagnosed with a staph infection and put on IV antibiotics for a week and then a pic line was placed and she was transferred to a rehab facility to finish her antibiotics and get physical therapy. She died only after a week in the rehab facility from septic shock. Is this considered normal?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

It seems that the infection has spread beside the antibiotics. This may be suggestive of an infection resistant to the antibiotics that she has been using or that she has had low immunity probably due to other comorbidities.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
