Suggest Treatment For Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease

ok I am a diabetic a1c averages 7 to 7.5 I am in stage 4 to stage 5 kidney disease my doctor says my blood acids are higher than he wants he has said to use sodium bicarbonate to ease the acid. I have been told to avoid any salt is this not contradictory?

Hello,

You are right. The hypertensive patient should avoid sodium in the diet and from medication as well.

But if acid level very high means metabolic acidosis present than it can be counteracted by bicarbonate.

So I suggest you follow your doctor advice to treat your condition.
You should get treatment by nephrologist only.
