Suggest Treatment For Stabbing Pain In The Chest

I m a woman, just turned 45. Never any health problems. Two weeks ago I had some chest pains that hung around for a couple of days. Not constant just seemingly a few sets of 2-4 stabbing pains deep in the center of my chest about 5 min apart continuing off & on for maybe an hr or so.....then subside & nothing then start again maybe a couple of hrs later. A couple if days of this. My mother said go to the ER....but ours here is not the best so I just rested & after the couple of days it didn t happen anymore. It was 01/30/16 to be exact. And today a couple of hrs ago it started doing it again at work. Continuing the little stabbing sets off & on until just now....it seems to have stopped. I can t find anything online with symptom checkers to give me any ideas? There are no other symptoms at all. Just these strange sharp stab sets in the center of my chest. Are you kidding? I just got to the place where it wants a credit card. I don t have this. I m truly sorry for wasting your time. Thank you anyway.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have stabbing pain in the chest . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the symptoms are probably due to acid reflux r due to lung infection . I would suggest you to consult chest specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order x-ray and examine physically and may prescribe antibiotics along with expectorant and decongestant . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux problem . Doctor may prescribe proton pump inhibitor or H2 blockers . I would suggest you to eat light and non spicy specially at night , take antacid after every meal , take light walk after every meal and keep your head elevated while lying down . Also take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
