General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Hi noted the history of red foreskin in your partner and understood the concerns.
This is most probably a case of balanoposthitis in which there is inflammation of the glans and foreskin of penis.
This can be an STD usually found in diabetic patients. Hence get his blood sugar checked first.
Another cause can be transfer of infection from vaginitis hence you too should get the Gynecologist's check up done and get treated if there is any infection.
If a course of an antibiotic and metronidazole along with canesten is required then both of you should take it simultaneously.
Cleaning the affected area with plain water 3 -4 times a day and then drying the area helps.
He can apply liquid Betadine that is povidone iodine locally.
If the problem is recurrent then circumcision may be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
