Suggest Treatment For Sore Tongue

Hello, I woke up this morning with a sore tongue. When I looked in the mirror I noticed a red lump surrounded by a purple bruise. It takes up pretty much the whole left side of my tongue. It hurts to eat. I swished with salt water but It did not help. I don t know how worried i should be. Thank you

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
This could be due to any food allergy, irritation by sharp teeth, vitamin B deficiency.
I recommend the following
1) Avoid spicy foods,
2) Antimicrobial mouthwash and corticosteroid ointment. Corticosteroid ointments are usually prescribed to reduce the inflammation and pain caused by this condition.
The topical corticosteroid that is commonly used for this purpose is triamcinolone.
3) Multivitamin supplements.

You will be fine. Wish you a speedy recovery and good health.

If you have any further questions you can write to me on Healthcare Magic.

Regards,
Dr Paparaja S MBBS,MS
