Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat While Breastfeeding

I had allergy testing for fish oil and my allergist said it was negative. (It was, I saw the test site) so before bed I took my dha omega 3 vitamin with my prenatal vitamin and now I have a tight sore throat. I am breastfeeding and not pregnant. I took 10ml of Benadryl and it started to feel better and then went bad again. What else can I take that s safe for breastfeeding and so I don t have to go to the emergency room?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Sore throat can be treated by using decongestant medication. Since you are breast feeding, it would be better to deal with it by conservative means.
Kindly do the following to overcome it.
1. Do salt water gargling with warm water thrice daily.
2. Consume medicated lozenges when necessary.
3. Consume syrup containing menthol when necessary.
If the symptoms doesn't get better, you may need to take a course of oral antibiotics such as Amoxacillin.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
