Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Gum Pain

Hello, late last week I started experiencing a bad sore throat which has gotten better, however, my gums, under my tongue hurt worse than the throat. A sore throat is not unusual for me, but the gum pain and under the tongue pain is new. When I look inside I do notice swelling and redness. I'm currently only taking OTC meds (Airborne, Fluticasone nasal spray, occasional coldeze throat drop, and a daily Zyrtec).
Please advise if I should seek medical attention or not or if this is something that will pass? The throat has gotten less painful which is why I hesitate to visit an office.

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain under the gum and tongue seems to be most probably due to swollen lymph nodes that can occur secondary to infection only and the lymph nodes can tale a longer time to resolve..

Pain can also be due to rawness and inflammation under the tongue and gum area leading to soreness and pain..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like oral swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment will be done accordingly..

As of now apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the mucosa under tongue and gums..
Do warm saline gargles..
Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
