Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Rituxan

Hi. I am currently on a treatment plan of rituxan for NH lymphoma - 4 treatments a month every 6 months. First treatment was Dec. 2015, then June, 2016. I am having continuing side effects: stomach acid feel in throat, extreme joint and muscle pain, extreme fatigue. How long after each series of treatments do these symptoms usually last?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Rituxan or Rituximab is an anti CD20 monoclonal antibody. It is used in the treatment of NHL, among other things. nausea, fatigue, and body aches are a common side effect.

If you start having severe stomach pain, do contact your local healthcare provider.

As your symptoms are suggestive of the minor side effects, you should not be worried.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
