Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Decadron

I RECENTLY TOOK DECADRON FOR 2 1/2 DAYS FOR A TOOTH INFECTION AND SWELLING IN THE CHEEK. BECAUSE OF MY REACTION TO IT
I WAS TOLD TO DISCONTINUE IT. TWO DAYS LATER I AM STILL FEELING SOME SIDE EFFECTS AND WONDER HOW LONG IT TAKES THE DRUG TO CLEAR THE BODY?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain Decadron contains active ingredient Dexamethasone that has a half life of about 36-54 hours and it can take about 3 days to completely wean off from the body and then gradually the symptoms will subside..

If you still have pain and infection related to an infected tooth better get the tooth x ray done followed by treating it..
In case if the tooth can be saved then Root Canal Treatment will help.
In case of gross decay get the tooth removed..

As of now take painkillers like Ibuprofen to relieve pain and do cool compresses over the cheek..

Drink plenty of water to wean of the drug faster from your system..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
