Suggest Treatment For Shivering With Fever

My girlfriend went to bed up shivering very violently (teeth chattering) saying she was very cold but her body is very warm. I don't have a way to take her temperature but she is probably running a fever. She got bundled up under a number of blankets and fell asleep, but awoke a few hours later to violent shivering. After 20 -40 minutes, it subsides and she falls back asleep. Should I take her to the hospital?

I have gone through your query and being your physcian i completely understand your health concerns.
what is her age? for how long u are suffering from it? any other lymph node swelling in ur body?any headache? cough? any history of sorethroat?
The fever is worrisome thing it points that something is going wrong in the body. she need to be examined for proper assessment.
I will definitely look her for the MALARIA as well as for TYPHOID FEVER.
In my opinion you should meet your doctor so that proper management can be initiated in time.
she need to get her FBC with ESR along with chest X ray.
she may need ANTIBIOTICS or ANTIMALARIALS, as well as pain killers but your doctor will decide about it.
meanwhile stay calm and use acetaminophen to relieve fever. you can do cold sponging if she is running high temperature
