Suggest Treatment For Shingles

My husband has a small outbreak of shingles. He also is looking very gray in his face coloring, has a temperature and his extremities are cold. went to ER today and had EKG (family history of heart problems). Nurse said his heart is not pumping properly ,yet Dr discharged him for muscle pain due to over exertion. He feels horrible, is walking like he is 90 and has been in bed since getting home. Don t know what to do. Coloring worries me. Have seen him sick before but this is different.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history of shingles, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral acyclovir taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
