Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In The Legs And Feet

I have been having small stabs of sharp pain in my legs and feet especially when I am lying down. It feels like a needle hitting a NERVE. The pain is shallow--not deep into the leg or feet. I have osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, fibromylgia and take meds for bi-polar disorder, also blood pressure pills, cholestoral pills, thryroid pills etc. I had a bad fall on my left knee in June and they said my cushion on my knee was swollen and full of liquid. I was supposed to elevate and ice the area and they said the liquid would dissipate. It has not dissipated totally in the knee area. After the fall, I was bruised and purple and had fluid from my thigh to the toe area, as well. One other time, I got sharp pains like this and it was when I was on Elavil for depression. (many years ago) Thank you for your help. I need to turn on my light so that I can see better. HA BR back. I m back My brother was diagonosed with Rhumatoid arthritis 1 yr ago ago at the age of 64. I have had 2 total knee replacements many years ago. I had a right hip replacement 2 yrs. ago. Ortho. Dr. thought I may need left hip replacement within the next couple of years. Thank you very much. I appreciate your suggestions.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Tramadol for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
