Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have swelling in my legs & I cannot bear to touch them. I have a lot of blue veins in ankle region & did have a bad case of phlebitis in left leg several years ago. I am wearing support socks but am worried I could have an underlying blood clot. They really bother when going to bed. Who would be the best Dr. to see in this case?
To treat oedema, you often must treat its underlying cause. For example, you might take allergy medications to treat swelling from allergies. Oedema from a block in fluid drainage can sometimes be treated by getting the drainage flowing again. A blood clot in the leg is treated with blood thinners.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Monish De, Oncologist
